Alley gate public spaces protection order (PSPO) review 2023

We are asking residents to have their say on the current orders that allow alley gates to be situated on roads and pavements, which were installed previously to help to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

Alley gates have been fitted in some areas of the borough for this purpose under gating orders or public spaces protection orders (PSPOs).

But the orders are now due for review and therefore, we are asking for residents' views as to whether they think the orders should be extended or not.

Residents who currently live in a property which have alleygates installed under a gating order or PSPO are now invited to let us know if you wish the PSPO on the alley gate in your area to continue, or if you would prefer the gate to be removed. If this applies to you, you will find your address listed in the survey.

A PSPO can last for up to three years after which it must be reviewed. If the review supports an extension, and other requirements are satisfied, it may be extended for up to a further three years.

The survey can be completed up until the 2nd October 2023.
