PledGINg support for the Mayor's Charity
L-R: Howard Gallimore, Mayor of Wigan Borough
Almost £600 has been raised for the Mayor of Wigan Borough’s chosen charities following a foodie fundraiser.
The Mayor’s Charity Committee organised the event, in partnership with Gallimore’s restaurant in Wigan town centre.
Following an evening of gin tasting, Spanish-inspired food and entertainment, a total of £590 was raised by the local community.
The money will be split between the Mayor’s two chosen charities; Wigan Youth Zone and the Willow Project, which supports the borough’s young people and their families to adapt to uncertain circumstances.
Councillor Steven Dawber, the Mayor of Wigan Borough said: “I’d like to thank the local community for their support so far during my mayoral year, and to Howard Gallimore for hosting this event.
“The money received as a result of the generosity of local people will go a long way in supporting the borough’s young people and families, providing them with advice, guidance and future opportunities.”
Since the new mayoral year started in May 2019, more than £9,000 has been raised for the Mayor’s charities.
