Parks

There is so much to see and do in our parks and countryside during the different seasons, including leisurely walks, nature watches, children's events and family fun days for your enjoyment.

Over two-thirds of the borough is green space with mile upon mile of trails and pathways, wetlands and flashes. You can discover your local green space with over 22 ancient woodlands and 17 parks.

  • Visit the recently restored Mesnes Park (external link) which now boasts a beautifully refurbished café pavilion, brand new play area and restored bandstand
  • Take a stroll through 250 acres of park and woodland at Haigh Country Park, with magnificent views across the Douglas Valley to the Welsh Hills. You can have an enjoyable day out with something for everyone
  • Visit the nature reserve and coarse fishery that is Orrell Water Park
