Stopping smoking

Banner notices

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health, reducing your risk of heart attacks, cancer and other serious long-term conditions.

It also brings many immediate benefits such as a lower heart rate, and improved blood circulation and lung function.

By quitting you’ll be protecting those around you from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke and you’ll save money too!

While stopping smoking can be difficult and can sometimes take several attempts, it can be easier with the right support - and our team of friendly, expert Be Well health advisors is here to help.

How we can help you

Everybody is different, which is why we offer a range of practical and convenient options to support you and your lifestyle. These include:

  • Face-to-face appointments available 1-2-1
  • Group sessions so you can quit with a friend or family member(s)
  • In-person sessions at community venues across our local neighbourhoods
  • Telephone appointments
  • Video calls

To give yourself the best chance of stopping smoking for good, it’s best to try a combination of behavioural support alongside Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

There are a range of NRT products that will, in combination, significantly increase your chances of quitting and will help you manage withdrawal symptoms, such as a patch, gum, mouth or nasal spray or lozenge.

Note: Those eligible for free prescriptions on the NHS can also access nicotine replacement free of charge.

Young people

We offer confidential stop smoking support for young people aged 12 years and over, including free nicotine replacement options.
