Wigan Council are currently reviewing all Council Tax accounts where a 25% Single Person Discount is applied.
The review is being carried out in partnership with NEC.
All enquiries are being handled by NEC so you will need to contact them directly if you are contacted as part of the review.
Why are we doing this?
We are required to conduct a review of our records to ensure that the bills we send out to you are correct and everyone is charged the correct amount.
How is the review being carried out?
All accounts that currently have a Single Person Discount are being checked, where further information is required a review form will be sent.
If you have received a review letter there is an online portal for you to return the required information which is quick, easy and free.
The letter you receive will have a unique code for online declarations.
Alternatively, you can call NEC on 01942 577142 or return your declaration in the post to NEC Response, PO Box 152, Twickenham TW2 6XZ.
If you receive a review letter and do not respond, the discount will be removed from your account so please ensure you respond as soon as you receive your letter.
Review forms will be from October 2023.
What do I need to do?
If you receive a review form, please complete your declaration via the online portal online portal Wigan Council SPD Review (external link) which is quick, easy and free, to validate your Single Person Discount. Please have your review letter to hand which will have your unique code to access the portal.
