Early Help and Prevention Strategy

There are a number of strategies that relate to Early Help and Prevention. These include:

  • Early Help and Prevention Strategy - Sets out our commitment to a shared vision and is the focus for the early help and prevention partnership ensuring delivery of effective and preventative support at the earliest stage
  • Parenting Strategy - Provides a framework to ensure the delivery of effective and preventative support to parents and carers
  • Wigan Neglect Strategy 2021 - Promotes a consistent understanding and approach, by developing opportunities for partners to work together to tackle child neglect
  • Wigan Thresholds of Need - Children, young people and their families have different levels of need, and these may change over time. There are four levels of need, and it is important to identify children and young people’s needs at the earliest possible opportunity to ensure they get the right help at the right time. This document sets out the needs at each of the four levels
  • Wigan Domestic Abuse Strategy - Sets out a vision that the borough will no longer tolerate or accept any form of Domestic Abuse. The strategy outlines the plans from 2021 to 2024
  • Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice - Statutory guidance for organisations which work with and support children and young people who have special educational needs or disabilities.
