Evidence based Assessment Tools that underpin the Early Help Assessment

 There are a number of evidence-based tools used by a range of professionals to support the understanding of a specific need. These tools are set out below:

• Domestic Violence Risk Identification Matrix (DV RIM) - List of risk factors, vulnerabilities and protective factors which helps practitioners recognise whether a child is at moderate, serious or severe risk
• ASQ-3 - Ages and Stages (extneral link) - Developmental screening tool that pinpoints developmental progress in children between the ages of one month to 5 1/2 years
• WellComm - GL Assessment (external link) - Complete speech and language toolkit, from screening to intervention. Both the Early Years and the Primary toolkits enable you to quickly and easily identify children needing support.
• Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (external link) - Monitoring of mental wellbeing in the general population and the evaluation of projects, programmes and policies which aim to improve mental wellbeing
• Graded Care Profile toolkit - Assessment tool to help identify and measure risk of neglect
• Domestice abuse, stalking and 'honour' based violence (DASH) guidance - Simple tool for practitioners who work with adult victims of domestic abuse in order to help them identify those who are at high risk of harm and whose cases should be referred to a Marac meeting in order to manage their risk.
