1. Overall statement
At Wigan we are committed to publishing details of our land and building assets in accordance with the Local Government Transparency Code 2015 and to go further than the minimum publication requirements.
2. Land and buildings assets list
The Council’s property portfolio is spread throughout the Borough and includes, e.g. community schools, libraries, sports centres, parks, cemeteries, open space, social care premises, car parks, markets and offices. It includes sites which are Council owned (freehold) and those that we occupy as tenants under leases or other arrangements.

The list will be published at least annually and not later than one month after the year to which the data and information is applicable.
3. Redacted data and exclusions
There are some exclusions as stated in the Code:
- social housing
- garages rented as part of a housing tenancy agreement
- rent free properties provided by traders
- operational railways and canals
- operational public highways
- assets of national security
- information deemed inappropriate for public access as a result of data protection and/or disclosure controls
- details of individual tenanted properties
For vacant properties only the first part of the postcode is published, rather than the full address details, and the map reference is not published.
Any data that is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act has been redacted.

Data published here is done so under the terms of the Open Government Licence for public sector information, version 3.0 (external link).
