Are you a business looking to give something back to the community? Are you a voluntary or community organisation who requires support to deliver the work you do?
Match My Project is the Council’s new social value platform, connecting businesses with voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations across the Borough.
You can view Wigan’s Match My Project page (external link) by signing up as a community organisation or business.
If you have any questions, or require any advice, please complete our online enquiry form.
Community organisations can request support in the form of time, resources, training, funding and more, while businesses who are looking to fulfil their social value can ensure their support is going exactly where it is needed - to community-led projects with a big impact.
Match My Project provides a simple, efficient way to post, match and monitor social value projects, including a leaderboard for businesses who have matched and delivered on projects across the Borough.

Hints and tips for VCFSEs
- Ensure that you are able to demonstrate the benefit of your project to the wider community
- Larger projects are less likely to be matched – try to break down into smaller asks and upload in stages
- Make sure the title and description of your project are eye-catching and relevant; the title and description will be the first thing a supplier sees, so make your ask as clear as possible
- Be clear on timescales for your project
- Confirm any necessary permissions before uploading to the platform, your project can’t be approved without them
- Try to include as much information as possible including links to specific items requested, measurements for areas of work and photographs
- Have you thought about other means of support for your project? For example, grant funding, volunteer opportunities and crowdfunding.
Hints and tips for businesses and suppliers
- Make time to browse projects regularly, community organisations are adding new requests all the time
- Upload an offer if you don’t see a project to match to, but have a resource to share
- Communicate timescales effectively once a match has taken place
- Make sure all social value support you are offering is logged through the platform - that way, the support is accurately recorded and displayed through the leaderboard.
Things to consider
- Once a project is complete, please upload your feedback onto the platform, this will mark your project as complete
- Complete our online enquiry form if you require any advice or guidance.
Please note that support and resources are limited. All requests will be reviewed, but uploading a project doesn't guarantee a match.
