Chinese New Year at the museum

The Museum of Wigan Life are looking for volunteers for the following placements:

  • Education programme - The Education Programme is held during the school holidays with family activities. These activities are held on a Tuesday and Thursday 1pm - 2.30pm.
  • Exhibition volunteers - Painting and installing new exhibitions, moving collections, hanging art work and general DIY.  Volunteers required at certain times throughout the year.
  • Collection volunteers - Potential research and documentation Opportunities. Training will be given, own transport required.

Try volunteering with archives and museums. Our volunteers are vital to the work done by the archives and museums. Without their passion and enthusiasm we wouldn’t be able to produce all of the amazing research, resources and events that take place.

Meet some of our volunteers!

Lilian - “I decided to give volunteering a trial and I wished I had done it sooner. I’ve gained confidence and I don’t worry about making mistakes now. I live alone and I get to meet and chat to people whilst volunteering. To anyone who is thinking of volunteering I would say give it a try!”
