Here For You milestone and support for WASPI

Here For You milestone and support for WASPI

At our most recent meeting of the full council at the end of January, we announced another significant milestone for our flagship Here For You campaign.

Through the dedication of our income maximisation teams, more than £7m of previously unclaimed financial support has now been redistributed to residents across our borough.

Here For You was launched in response to the cost-of-living crisis and we know that many of the same challenges remain throughout our communities.

Although the £7m mark is a significant achievement and testament to the hard work of our teams, we will not rest there.

And that’s where our expert, friendly advisors can help by ensuring you’re receiving all the financial support you are entitled to.

There are always plenty of Here For You events across the borough, providing opportunities for you to learn more about what’s available, so keep an eye out.

Please call in to any of our library or life centre sites at any time to learn more about Here For You, our officers will be able to point you in the right direction.

Also at full council, I was able to reiterate our stance on an important issue, as we reaffirmed our commitment to the WASPI campaigns across our borough.

Although recent announcements at a national level have not been the news that our local campaigners were hoping for, Wigan Council will continue to offer our local groups support in their fight for the justice they deserve.

Now we’re at the start of February we can look forward to the start of the new Super League season.

The opening fixture is a big one to get us underway next week as it’s another battle of the borough between Leopards and Warriors; what an exciting way to start for all our rugby league fans.

As ever, we wish all of our borough’s teams across the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions the best of luck in 2025.
