Our work with tenants

One aspect of our work concentrates on engaging with tenants through our team of volunteers.

We support the Housing Advisory Panel (HAP), a non-decision-making panel, and review and comment on reports brought from various directorates who deliver services to council tenants and estates.

The panel is comprised of equal numbers of elected members and tenant representatives. The tenant representatives are drawn from the 5 Area Housing Forums (the former area housing offices of Atherton, Platt Bridge, Wigan, Leigh, Pemberton) plus the Older Persons and Managed Accommodation Forum.

A significant role of the tenant representative is to act as a conduit of information between the HAP and tenants. Since its inception in August 2017, tenant panel members have embraced their role and have fed back on council priorities including place-based integration, housing repairs, service standards, housing for health and have been central to discussions on the involvement of tenants.

To learn more about the Housing Advisory Panel you can watch the following interviews with our tenant panel members:

Tenant Voice group

We also support the Tenant Voice group.

Members of Tenant Voice act as a link between the Council, partner organisations, tenants and residents to help improve their communities and estates.

Talk and Tidy Tuesdays

Do you love where you live? Do you think we could make some improvements together?

We’re hosting a range of roadshows across the borough which will give tenants the chance to come and talk to council officers. Come along and speak to the Deal for Communities Team to find out what’s going on in your area.
