Chapel Lane Junction - FAQ's

What is happening at the Chapel Lane/Poolstock Junction?

We are making changes to the Chapel Lane/Poolstock Junction to connect the new A49 Link Road, which runs from Goose Green to Westwood Park, with the rest of the road network.

What changes are being made?

The changes to the junction include: relocation of islands; new drainage; alteration of levels; pedestrian and cyclist crossings; upgraded street lighting; road widening; lane alterations and changes to the signals.

Who is carrying out the work?

Wigan Council are carrying out the works through their appointed contractors, Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK (Main Contractor) and Siemens who will be undertaking elements of the works associated with the traffic signal installations.

Will this affect my journey through the junction?

We will endeavour to keep traffic moving as much as possible, however, some delays are to be expected. We would advise allowing extra time to complete your journey.

Will there be a diversion?

An alternative route is available if you wish to avoid the junction. Diversion signs will be clearly displayed.

How will traffic be managed and how long will the road works take?

Road works will be in place at the junction from January to April 2020.

How do I report a problem with the road works?
