Summer is a special time for sport, with major international tournaments and global events to keep us glued to our tv screens.

It’s also the perfect time to get out and play the games we love, or to try something completely new.

At Be Well we have a variety of fun, coach-led sports sessions you can get involved with, either as part of your membership or on a pay-and-play basis for non-members.

So if you’re looking to make the most of this summer of sport, here are 9 reasons you’ll love playing with us...

1. Focus on fun

‘It’s not about winning and losing, it’s about taking part.’ It’s an old cliché that doesn’t always ring true when others take things too seriously. Luckily, all our sports sessions are focused on fun; there are no leagues and results really don’t matter.

2. Everyone is welcome!

Since it’s not about winning or losing, our sports are suitable for adults (16+) of all ages and abilities. Beginners will get patience and encouragement – and even if you’ll never be Serena, Lionel or LeBron, it doesn’t matter. All that’s important is you having a good time being active.

3. No commitment

Playing sport is fun, but training to play can often be a drag. When you’re part of a sports club you’ve all sorts of commitments and obligations. Miss a training session, for instance, and you might find yourself out of the team. With Be Well you just turn up and play whenever you feel like it! No training, no commitment, no nonsense.

4. Learn the basics

Never played before? Haven’t a clue about the rules? It doesn’t matter! Our friendly, welcoming coaches and volunteers can show you the ropes and get you playing in no time. For some it can be the springboard to playing the sport competitively, while for others it’s just a fun new way to be active.

5. So much to choose from!

We’ve got a range of sports sessions for you to try, all with the same focus on fun. Choose from basketball, badminton, bowls, football, walking football, netball, walking netball, pickleball, tennis or rounders.

6. Top facilities

We play on 3G pitches and indoor and outdoor courts across our seven leisure centres, as well as in parks and community venues all over the borough. We’re also growing our offer all the time, adding new sports and sessions for you to get involved in.

7. We’ve got all the gear!

There’s no need to go out and buy an expensive racket or set of bowls, because at Be Well sports sessions all equipment is provided.

8. Play as much as you want

All our sports sessions are included in a Be Well membership which means you can play as many sports as you want, as often as you like, at no extra cost. Or you can choose to pay as you play… it’s up to you.

9. The social side

Last but certainly not least… Perhaps the best thing about our sports sessions is the amazing community of people who play. New faces are always welcome and breaking the ice is easy. Soon you’ll be getting to know your fellow players, making new friends, and having a ball!
