Secure Housing

Secure and suitable housing provides stability for families. It is linked to positive health and wellbeing outcomes, provides a base for children to attend school, for parents to sustain employment and for the family to contribute to their communities.

The following resources will provide guidance in relation to “Secure Housing”:

  • Chance of a Lifetime - A report about the impact of housing on children's lives
  • Homelessness services - Useful information and support, including a Homelessness referral pathway which will send a Homeless referral direct to the Homelessness Solutions Team who will then make contact with the customer to offer advice and support
  • Homelessness Prevention Pack - Information for both customers and professionals, to help prevent Homelessness, giving advice and tips on how to self-help to keep you in your property
  • Risk of Homelessness Leaflet - Information for both customers and professionals, to help prevent Homelessness, giving advice and tips on how to self-help to keep you in your property
  • Housing Temporary Accommodation Fact Sheet - Overview on what Temporary Accommodation is, explaining that Temporary Accommodation may not be offered to all customers and what to expect in terms of the offer and move on from this accommodation.

There are a number of organisations that can support children and families with secure housing:
