Winter 2024
Borough Life is back and this year’s winter edition is packed with all of the latest stories, community news and events.
2024 was an important milestone for us as it marked 50 years since Wigan Borough was formed, and in this edition of the magazine we dig into some of the highlights of the year… from Keely Hogkinson’s gold medal in Paris and Wigan Warriors’ winning the Super League Grand Final in October.
The memories of a fantastic summer of music at Robin Park Arena are still burning strong, and it was brilliant to look back at Richard Ashcroft’s homecoming.
There are plenty of key updates on big projects in this edition of the magazine, covering developments from Haigh to the Civic, Cotton Works and the former Galleries, all the way over to Ashton and Leigh town centre.
In other news, we share updates from the borough’s very own DIY SOS scheme which has seen community matchups between kind-hearted businesses and community groups and look at how Digital Wigan are opening a world of opportunity by helping people get online.
As always, we hope you enjoy reading and we’d love to hear what you think of the magazine. Please email Borough Life with any feedback or if you have an idea for a story.
Don’t forget, you can listen to the Borough Life podcast online.
