Free, tailored advice and support is available to help you to reduce your energy bills and improve the efficiency of your home.
Wigan Council, as part of a Greater Manchester-wide partnership, are delivering the Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) Project, providing advice to help residents access the financial or technical support they need to improve the warmth and energy efficiency of their homes. Whether through the installation of low-carbon heating and insulation, or through bespoke advice and targeted retrofit measures, we will support you along your home improvement journey as we pave the way to greener homes locally, and a fairer, greener GM.
The LEAD Project
LEAD is a £2.14m initiative funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the North West Net Zero Hub, and is being delivered by a range of local authorities, social enterprises and charities across Greater Manchester through to the end of March 2025. Although project partners will be testing out different approaches to reach and engage with our communities, we will all work to ensure that advice is clear and easy to access, and that residents are connected to any available forms of financial support.
What we can do
- Provide tailored advice to help you to reduce your energy usage (and bills) and prevent heat loss around the home
- Connect you to any available grant funding schemes for heating upgrades and insulation, including ECO4, the Great British Insulation Scheme and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, helping you to access the online eligibility checker and application form
- Support residents who are interested in upgrading their homes through practical, technical advice in relation to low-carbon heating, insulation and solar panels
- Visit your home to carry out a free retrofit assessment when appropriate, to include checking your home’s energy efficiency and recommending suitable retrofit measures.
