The Home Watch scheme helps residents to make their own neighbourhoods safer, by helping people protect themselves and their property, and to reduce the fear of crime.
Working with neighbourhood police teams, residents living in Home Watch areas can get advice on how to spot and report suspicious behaviour and reduce the attractiveness of their homes to the opportunist thief. They are encouraged to look after the homes of other scheme members when they are away and to mark their property with post coding equipment.
If you live in an area where the Home Watch scheme exists you may also be eligible for discounts on your home insurance.
