Wigan Council’s aim is that all children and young people including those with medical needs, will have access to quality education provision to meet their needs.
Our medical needs and Access to Education (section 19) polices have been co-produced in consultation with schools, health services, education professionals and social care to understand the education of children with medical needs and how we can work together to enable children to access suitable education. These policies include a graduated response, supporting inclusive practice across all settings to ensure children’s continued links to their education provider, when their health needs may impact their access to education.
