The Council is working to make it as easy as possible for people to dispose of their waste responsibly.
This includes:
- Ensuring we have the right bins, in the right place, at the right time with over 2,000 bins supplied and maintained by the council
- Free access to the household waste recycling centres for local residents to dispose of household waste
- Two bulky waste collections of up to five items in any 12 month period, with any extra collections of up to five items costing just £25
- Waste amnesties - every ward had a waste amnesty visit in 2023, giving people the opportunity to dispose of unwanted items.
We received over 2500 reports of litter or fly-tipping in 2021/22; nearly 50 a week.
We take enforcement action against these offences, issuing fines and prosecuting those who commit these crimes with a team of 15 people employed to investigate, educate and prosecute for fly-tipping.
Our ask of local residents and visitors to our borough is simple, Keep It Clean!
Get rid of your litter in a bin; if you have large items to get rid of use our bulky waste service or a licensed waste collector; and work with us to keep our borough clean.
