It is mandatory for all private hire / hackney carriage driver licence holders to attend one of the training sessions arranged by the Licensing Team.
The training is for private hire / hackney carriage driver licence holders only.
The training is not available to those looking to acquire a licence, members of the public. The training places are limited for drivers who are currently licensed with the Authority only.
The purpose of the training is to improve public safety, by ensuring that licence holders are aware of important issues related to their occupation as a public transport provider and also ensuring they understand their responsibilities.
The private hire / hackney carriage driver training will cover the following:
- Safeguarding
- Child Sexual Exploitation
- Human Trafficking and County Lines
- Disability Awareness
- Domestic Abuse
- Inappropriate Behaviour
- Licence Conditions.
The times of the training will vary for each date and full details can be found below.
Failure to attend one of the arranged training sessions will result in the suspension of your private hire / hackney carriage driver licence.
Booking your Training Session
You MUST book on one of the dates / sessions outlined below.
Places are limited at each session and therefore you cannot just turn up.

What do I need?
All drivers will be required to sign in when they arrive and must stay for the full session.
Access to a smartphone is required, to enable you to participate in an interactive quiz covering the subjects covered on the day.
On completion of the training, all drivers will be emailed a certificate as evidence of attendance.
