What can we do to support you?
If your child’s first language is not English or if they are from Gypsy, Roma, Traveller or Showman, heritage the Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) can provide extra support.
Our team of teaching staff and family liaison officers work with schools, pupils and their families providing support.
EMTAS provides support to children, young people and families by:
- Finding a school place for your child
- Supporting your child starting school
- Helping your child to learn English in school
- Supporting your child in school, as part of their learning journey
- Helping you and your child settle into a new area and learn what Wigan has to offer
- Guiding you to ESOL classes / support groups.
