An interactive play trail commissioned by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England and match funded by the council and led by artist David Bethell.
The trail features giant comets inspired by Haigh’s strong astronomy connection and was designed by local school children in a series of workshops which engaged more than 80 school children from three nearby primary schools.
Also due to open in 2025 is the new Woodland Hub offering outdoor adventure activities for both children and adults as well a coffee kiosk, toilet facilities and storeroom.
This project will help bring the lower plantations to life, increasing the accessibility of the woodland and widening the outdoor activity offer.
We also hope it will improve the visitor experience by encouraging more people to access this part of the estate.
