Opening times
Wigan Borough cemeteries are open and accessible from 9am daily.
- From 1st April - 30th September they are locked at 8pm
- From the 1st October - 31st March they are locked at dusk (following daylight hours) but no earlier than 4pm.
Report an issue
If you find a problem within a cemetery (such as vandalism, fallen headstones, overgrown vegetation etc) please report the issue to us.

Grave Identification
A grave number is made up of 3 elements:
- Denomination
- Cemetery Section
- Individual grave number (for example, CE-16-215)
This number can be found inscribed on the side of the base of memorials less than 10 years old.
When visiting a cemetery, you can find a specific grave by locating the number on an existing memorial and working along the row until you find the required grave.
