Are you a carer?

Do you help a family member, partner, friend or neighbour regularly? Would this person have difficulty managing without your support? Did you know support is available for you in your caring role?

A carer is anyone who provides unpaid care to a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. Carers help with things such as:

  • Washing, dressing or taking medicines
  • Getting out and about and travelling to doctors' appointments
  • Shopping, cleaning and laundry
  • Paying bills and organising finances
  • Providing emotional support by sitting with someone to keep them company and watching over them if they can't be left alone.

We're here for you

Being a carer is a very valued role within our community and we want to help you recognise and celebrate what you do, as well as support you.

Many people don’t see themselves as carers and may not seek the support that they need. We want you and the person you care for to live the best life possible, getting the right support at the right time.
