This is in relation to a financial penalty that we can impose on an individual or organisation, as an alternative to prosecution, for offences under the Housing Act 2004.
Circumstances for civil penalties
Civil penalties may be imposed for various offences, including:
- Failure to comply with an Improvement Notice
- Offences related to Houses in Multiple Occupation licensing
- Overcrowding notice violations
- Non-compliance with management regulations for Houses in Multiple Occupation
- Breaches of Electrical Safety Standards.
Payment of penalty
- If you have received a 'final notice' and do not intend to appeal to the First-tier Tribunal, you should pay the penalty
- A 15% discount is available if payment is made within 28 days of the final notice.
