Broadmead Day Centre offers a service to people over the age of 18 with a diagnosis of a learning disability, complex needs or challenging behaviour.
Our aim is to help people to stay healthy and maintain their independence by providing opportunities to take part in therapeutic and stimulating activities in a safe and caring environment.
Broadmead works in partnership with a variety of health professionals including District Nurses, Additional Support Team, Speech and Language, Physiotherapy. We promote active engagement with our parents and carers to ensure we are continually providing a high level of support for their loved ones.
We encourage people to become part of the Broadmead community and often welcome everyone to events or coffee mornings, from parents and carers to the general public.
What does our day centre provide?
The service Broadmead provides encompasses all areas of day to day support, including:
- Personal care needs
- Administering medication
- Assistance with moving and handling requirement
- Promoting independence in order to maintain dignity and self respect
- A variety of activities designed around each person’s needs.
Broadmead is a single floor assessable building and has specialised equipment to support individual needs.

How much does it cost?
Wigan Council charges for care services, however the amount you pay will depend on your financial circumstances.
For more information about your care charges, you can speak with your social worker or social care officer involved in handling your care.
How to get there and access the centre
Your social worker assessment will identify whether you require transport to and from the day centre. However, your own preferred method of transport maybe more suitable for your individual needs.
To attend the day centre, you will require an assessment. If you already have a social worker or social care officer, please contact them to request an assessment

Once you have contacted our duty team, the staff will arrange to visit you at home and organise a visit to the day centre. Free taster days are available to try before you attend.
